Can I vote at my polling place if I have a disability?

Yes. If you are a voter with a disability you are entitled to vote at your polling place.

You have the legal right to receive assistance at the polling place by the person of your choice. A poll worker may not prevent you from getting this assistance. Note: The person you choose cannot be your employer or an agent of your union. Depending on your state, there may be other restrictions.

You do not have to accept help if you do not need it.

Alternatively, if you would like to vote by absentee ballot, you have the right to do so. You can request an absentee ballot here.

Note: U.S. Vote Foundation has a state-specific Voters with Disabilities Guide. Simply select your state from the dropdown menu, and on the following page click on a tab to find information on voter rights, rules of assistance, accessible voting options, available accommodations, who to contact if you have problems while voting, and helpful quick links.
